Skills is the Sector Skills Council for the Property, Facilities Management,
Housing and Cleaning industries and our main aim is to improve and develop
skills in these sectors. By working closely with professional bodies, trade
associations, employers and training providers we aim to help increase
productivity and competitiveness across the industries as well as providing
employees with the skills they need to develop themselves, whether it is
within their current role or a change of career direction.

1st is the
Sector Skills Council for the Hospitality,
Leisure, Travel and Tourism industries, ensuring that the skills employers
need are the skills they get. They aim to provide the environment which
enables employers within the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector
to have the right number of people with the right skills and qualifications
at the right time. Thereby improving the profitability, retention and appeal
of this dynamic sector, delivering world class productivity and customer
service through its skilled people.

SkillSmart
Retail , the Sector Skills Council for the Retail Sector, strive to be the
authority for retail skills development and promotion, contributing to
improved productivity.

Run by retailers for
retailers, Skillsmart Retail operates under licence to the Department for
Education and Skills and is part of the Skills for Business Network. |

Improve
is the Sector Skills Council for Food and Drink Manufacturing and
Processing across the UK and part of the Skills for Business
Network, sponsored by the Department for Learning and Skills.
Improve was established July 2004 as the recognised authority on skill
development in the UK Food and Drink Industry. Our vision is ‘to deliver
more profit to employers through skills’. This is an ambitious aim and we
already have an ambitious programme of activity in place to deliver the
results. |
GoSkills, the Sector Skills Council for the passenger transport sector,
is an employer-led organisation that operates throughout the
UK. They help employers and operators improve their business performance
by developing staff skills and advising on issues such as funding
opportunities, training providers and training tools.

SkilSure® is the pre-eminent on-line solution for planning,
mentoring and supporting development; tracking development progress against
competence requirements; building and maintaining e-portfolios to support
accomplishment; and allowing controlled access to review, appraise and

solutions include Professional Institutions, Sector Skills Councils,

The National Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom, the UK
NARIC, is the national agency under contract to the UK Government
Department for
Education and Skills. As the only official
source of information and advice on international education and training
systems and overseas skills and qualifications, the UK NARIC serves to
perform two key functions: To
provide recognition service and comparability information of all
international qualifications from 183 countries worldwide with those in the
UK and to promote UK qualifications abroad through the promotion of
recognition and acceptance of British awards |
